ULU pressing for international students oyster card changes

Together with King’s College London Students’ Union (KCLSU) President Thomas Clayton, I have been pushing for changes in the regulations for student oyster cards to benefit international students.

As it stands, the minimum time required to be on a course in order to qualify for a student oyster card is 14 weeks. However, many Study Abroad students are only in London for one term (around 12 weeks). A simple change to the regulations would allow students on Study Abroad to benefit from a student oyster card.

I have written to Valerie Shawcross AM, leader of the Labour Transport Group in the London Assembly who has tabled a public question on the issue to the Mayor. We have followed this up with a direct message to the Mayor himself and I will keep you posted of the response.

Hopefully this simple change can be made to benefit international students who choose to live and study here in London for a term.
