ULU Palestine solidarity statement

Below is a letter sent by myself and ULU President Michael Michael Chessum to various Palestine solidarity groups in University of London colleges.

Dear Palestine solidarity activists,

As the President and Vice President of the University of London Union (ULU), we condemn totally the Israeli attacks on Gaza and the continuing occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza strip by Israel.

Israel’s continuing colonial oppression of the Palestinians, and the denial of their right to self-determination, is at the root of the current conflict, and we stand with the Palestinian people against Israeli attacks. We strongly oppose the relentless expansion of illegal settlements into the West Bank and the continuing blockade of the Gaza, where conditions have been described as an open prison.

We wish to offer ULU as a hub for Palestine solidarity work and extend to you an invitation to meet with us to discuss how we can take this work forward.

In solidarity,

Michael Chessum, ULU President
Daniel Cooper, ULU Vice President
